Unscrupulous Acts And Honesty

Yeah, The Grand Opening. A brand new page on our history. Even though there were some unforeseen circumstances, everything went relatively smoothly. The only pity is that I have to be guarding the most important room that day. Ha ha...

Well anyway, I just pre-ordered S.H.E Play album...

Two of them.

Haiz...even though I know it's a huge conspiracy by the record company to leech the fans money, I still "have no choice but to buy"... LOL. Even though I am very "bu gan yuan".. but I felt "obliged" to purchase both. This time is even worst than Qi Huan Lu Cheng cause the 2 have exactly the same cover. Geez... "Bo Bian" loh...

If you think this means I'm a spendthrift... you're wrong.

This proves that my love for them is unconditional.

Well, talking about money, I saw this interesting news yesterday. It talks about a "Honesty Store" opened by a teacher in China. The store has no shopkeeper. Customers just take what they want and, if they have some conscience, can make the payment be dropping it into the money box. Whether you pay or not is entirely up to you. The report says most of the people will pay, but some will just take what they want. Some atrocious people even break open the money box and steal the cash... The store owner says even though she loses money from the store, she'll still continue this to promote honesty...

The Best Idol Drama Quotes...

Was surfing around the "Asian Entertainment" forum of Fanatics, then come across this thread about "Quotes from your favourite drama"... Super interesting. Thought I'll list some. The drama which it occurred in will be listed if known. If the phrase is in English, it means I can't find the exact chinese phrase, so I just use the one provided.

"真爱是不能被放弃的,能够放弃的就不叫真爱" (Prince Become Frog)

Best Songs Awards I

My personal opinion on some of the best songs I've heard.

Note that this list is just my own perception of what are best songs I've heard. Everyone taste is different. One man's meat may be another's poison.

This list has nothing to do with popularity (but of course it's more likely that I've heard the popular songs). If I come across this super "ulu" song that's extremely nice, it'll also be listed. And of course if I haven't heard a particular song before it wouldn't be up here... All song listed are not in ranking order.

Honorable Mentions are really great songs that are left out of the top 10 spot. (And I could properly switch any of them in for the top 10) It's just that too many good songs liao...hard to pick just 10 songs...

-----------------------------------------------------------

Top 10 "Non Duet" (Male/Female/Group) Songs In 2003

1. Sun Yan Zi - Wo Bu Nan Guo 我不难过
2. Zhou Jie Lun - Dong Feng Po 东风破
3. Zhou Jie Lun - Duan Le De Xuan 断了的弦
3. B.A.D - Wo De Cuo 我的错
4. Wang Xin Ling - Dang Ni 当你
5. S.H.E - Superstar
6. Liang Jing Ru - Fly Away
7. Liang Jing Ru - Wei Wo Hao 为我好
8. Liang Jing Ru - Di San Zhe 第三者
9. Zhang Jing Xuan - Duan Dian 断点
10. Melody - Ai Duo Shao Zao Zhi Dao 爱多少早知道

Honorable Mentions:
Zhou Jie Lun - Gui Ji 轨迹,
S.H.E - Bai Se Lian Ge 白色恋歌,
Comic Boyz - Qing Chun Jie Nian Ce 青春纪念册,
Lin Jun Jie - Dong Jie 冻结,
Lin Jun Jie - Chi Bang 翅膀

Summary: Not that hard to pick out the top 10. I know there's a lot of Fish songs up there, but all of them are just so good...couldn't leave them out. Jay also have lot of killer songs up there...If you swap in "Gui Ji" he'll have 3 songs on my top 10.

Lastly, You should definitely check out "Duan Dian" and "Wo De Cuo" if you haven't heard them before. These are songs are definitely the BEST song from the respective (less popular) artists...
-----------------------------------------------------------

Top 10 "Non Duet" (Male/Female/Group) Songs In 2004

1. Jolin Cai Yi Lin - Dao Dai 倒带
2. Zhou Jie Lun - Jie Kou 借口
3. Zhang Shao Han - Yi Shi De Mei Hao 遗失的美好
4. Zhang Dong Liang - Ji Mo Bian Jie 寂寞边界
5. Wu Ke Qun - Wu Ke Qun 吴克群
6. S.H.E - Wo Ai Ni 我爱你
7. S.H.E - Hou Niao 候鸟
8. Wang Li Hong - Forever Love
9. Wang Li Hong - Ai Cuo 爱错
10. Zhang Zhi Chen - Mo Ri Zhi Lian 末日之恋

Honorable Mentions:
Hu Yan Bing - Waiting For You,
Wang Xin Ling - Ming Tian Jian 明天见,
Wen Lan - Ai Ni De Liang Ge Wo 爱你的两个我,
Mini & Gu Er - Don't Cry,
Zhou Jie Lun - Ge Qian 搁浅

Summary: Spread out quite evenly. I think S.H.E and Li Hong definitely deserves the 4 spots combined. Haha. This year one is much harder to pick cause there's a lot of songs that just falls short slightly. If you listen to Mandarin Pop at all, all the songs in the top 10 should be quite familiar. Great songs that are famous.

In the Honorable Mentions are some great songs that are not famous...though. Check them out~
-----------------------------------------------------------

Top 10 "Non Duet" (Male/Female/Group) Songs In 2005

1. S.H.E - Tian Hui 天灰
2. S.H.E - Yue Gui Nu Shen 月桂女神
3. Hou Xuan - Qiao Duan 桥段
4. Guang Liang - Tong Hua 童话
5. Wang Li Hong - Kiss Goodbye
6. Huang Yi Da - Na Nu Hai Dui Wo Shuo 那女孩对我说
7. Yang Chen Lin - Li Xiang Qing Ren 理想情人
8. Lin Jun Jie - Jian Jian Dan Dan 简简单单
9. Li Sheng Ji - Chi Xin Jue Dui 痴心绝对
10. Zhou Jie Lun - Fa Ru Xue 发如雪

Honorable Mentions:
Yu Heng - Yi Ran Shi Peng You 依然是朋友,
Li Sheng Jie - Shou Fang Kai 手放开,
Sun Yan Zi - Yin Xing Ren 隐形人,
S.H.E - Bu Zuo Ni De Peng You 不作你的朋友

Summary: Haha. A mix of well known and 'ulu' songs... I still think S.H.E 8th Album is their best to date (excluding compilation)... almost wanted to put 3 songs from that album up there... In the end I slot one into the Honorable Mention.

I think a lot of people will disagree with me on this Top 10 List though. Some songs most people will think are quite ordinary, but I don't know why that I just love them a lot. And definitely check out "Qiao Duan" by this unknown Mainland singer. That song is PURPOSELY sing to imitate Jay's voice.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Top 5 Duet Songs In The Past 5 Years (2001 to 2006)

1. Jacky Wu, Linda - Chuang Wai 窗外 (2001)
2. Wang Li Hong, Lu Qiao Ying - Hao Xin Fen Shou 好心分手 (2002)
3. Li Sheng Jie, Lin Long Xuan - Ni Na Me Ai Ta 你那么爱他 (2005)
4. Pan Wei Bo, Zhang Xuan Zi - Bu De Bu Ai 不得不爱 (2005)
5. Zhou Jie Lun, Lara - Shan Hu Hai 珊瑚海 (2005)

Honorable Mentions:
Tank & Selina - 独唱情歌 (2006),
Zhou Chuan Xiong & Chen Hui Ling - Zai Jian Bei Ji Xue 再见北极雪 (2005)

Summary: Don't have to say much...but I think duet are really dying nowadays. As in, not much good quality duets. "Hao Xin Fen Shou" is technically a "Canto & Mando" song combined together, but I still included it. And I bet you don't know the name of the female in "Bu De Bu Ai".

Wrestlemania 23!

Woo! Just finished watching Wrestlemania 23. Hmm... in my opinion, it just wasn't a "Wrestlemania-Quality" PPV... It's great for a normal PPV, but not good enough for the greatest PPV of the year. I think it's one of the lousier Wrestlemanias I've watched in recent years.

The Mid-card is completely screwed up. All the crappy matches you can find. What Kane VS Khail (Total BS), some horrible Diva match, some horrible ECW match...

The only saving grace is the 2 main events. First, Undertaker VS Batisa. Luckily, the right man won. Heh. HBK Vs Cena started off extremely slowly, but the last 8 minutes was simply amazing. Counters and counters and counters. Super "Kan Chiong"...

Anyway, I was surfing in Gamefaqs Forum, and found a thread about the most entertaining speeches ever given... some hilarious stuffs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Rey Mysterio, I want you to remember one thing: you’re a boy in a man’s world, and I’m a man that loves to play with boys! No, no, no! Wait a minute! Shut up! What I meant to say is: you’re a boy and I’m a man, and tonight I’m gonna love to manhandle you! No! Hold on a second! Shut up! Rey Mysterio, you remember this, pal, you’re a boy and I’m a man, and when you and I get together here tonight, I’m gonna get on top of you and … no, no! Damnit! Mysterio, just get your ass down here!" - Kurt Angle

Bobby Heenan commenting on Hogan's entrance music
Heenan: That's my second favorite song.
Monsoon: I'm almost afraid to ask. Whats your favorite?
Heenan: All the rest are tied.

Big Show: Why is he getting the I.C. title shot and not me?
RVD: Ahhh...maybe 'cause you're a tool.
Big Show: Look. I am 7'2". I am 500 pounds. I'm a giant.
RVD: Oh ok. You're a giant tool.

HHH to John Cena: "You think I'm scared of a guy whose one big move is pumping up his Reeboks?"

HBK making fun of Hulk Hogan before their match.

Overselling at Summerslam, HBK VS Hulk Hogan Video *MUST WATCH for both fan/non fan.

Second Life 3 - Towards The Big O

Last Chapter, Upper Secondary:

Maths - My maths improved a lot from the lower secondary. Got a lot of help from my friends like Matthew, Eric and Chang Hua (Some of the best students in our class). Eric and me will always be in the "Studying Corner" after classes end to "chiong" finish our Maths homework, instead of going home. We'll also like do as much as we can in between classes, then we'll compete with each others to see by the end of the day, who completed their homework first. Fun times.

My maths teacher's also my form teacher, Mr Lee. He's a really nice person, but I found his teaching methods... hard to grasp. A lot of my maths understanding come from self studying and discussing with my friends. Topic I hate most is the Integration crap... and oh yeah. The "Prove trigonometry" kind of questions in A Maths.

Chinese - It's one of my favourite lessons during that time, cause it's like...a period for u to have fun! LOL. Especially during Sec 4, almost every lesson will be done in the computer lab. Some lessons still left a deep impression on me, like the "Lei Yu" (Lightning Rain) one. The main character got struck my lightning. "Zhu Lao Shi"~

English - My English also improved a lot during upper secondary. Greatest reason due to my teacher. She'll hold non compulsory extra classes after school to help those weaker, and I always go and attend the lessons. Haha. My weakness portion is the Oral one... where you had to see a picture and talk about it. That one I am really super "Lao Ya", so she did a lot of practice on it. In the end I got a B3 for O Level! LOL...Not bad lah.

Geography / Social Studies - I kind of regretted picking Geography (even though I did very well), cause it's so...boring. We're studying stuffs like what Green Revolution, and at how many meters you should plant coffee trees -_-. WTF. Totally useless stuff. I enjoyed Social Studies though. I love the "I agree to a certain extend" thing. We're actually the first batch under that system. I totally mastered how to score points when answering those kind of questions.

Chemistry - I don't like this subject, especially the Practical. I just cannot do the QA thing well. And I hate it when your calculation for the first question screws up, all the other questions will be wrong. Anyway, Ms Lai "pyscho" a lot of people to go into Food/Chemical engineering in the Poly, saying like what its the "next big thing"and crap... In fact, ALL the top students from my class either went to the JC or went to study chemical in Poly.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After O Levels - Didn't really keep in contact with my Secondary School friends after graduation, except a few ones that were closer to me. (In MSN, Haha) Didn't really go out with them or what... We did hold one gathering back in June 2005 (About half the class attend, which was great!). That was the last time I saw a bunch of them. Haha.

Second Life 2 - The Subjects

I've forgotten most of the things in the lower secondary, but some teachers still leave a very deep impression on me.

Literature - Skive and Elevator food... Haha. To this date I still remember the storyline. Love the writing style and how the author presented it in such an appealing way to secondary students. Miss Lee taught us this subject... Hee hee... She gets my vote for the "Most Pretty Teacher" in my entire school life. (Primary to Poly) She was like only 25 at that time... and she always dress in those female boots and skirt. (Kind of like Japanese Style) Er... yah. Amazingly that was the bulk of what I remembered about this Subject.

History - Taught by a great teacher called Ms Sam. She has a unique way of teaching that just makes you remember all those details. I still remember what "Mohanjo-Daro" and "Harapa" and "Chandragupta" (Probably spelled all of them wrong but that is how they're pronounced) thing. India history, then those Zhou Dynasty, Qin Dynasty...etc. In fact, History was my BEST subject in Sec 1 and 2, and I must say all the credit goes to her.

Geography - Another great Malay teacher (forgot her name), but I respected her a lot. She was the Discipline Master or something I think. During her lessons, I'm always sitting beside the projector right at the front, helping her change the transparencies. Haha. That's probably why Geography is another one of my best subjects. At that time I really enjoyed stuff like Map Reading, what Contours and like memorizing the World Map. Heh.

Tech and Home Econ - I hate the technical study subject. I am an idiot when it comes to things that require me to use my hand...(Except certain things) So anyway I just can't memorize all those technical stuff like what...er...chisel? And Vice grip? Or whatever. The only decent thing I made was a CD Rack. Home Econ was more fun. The whole class was always bullying the teacher. Ji Wai Ji Wai~ I did quite well at the final exams with a Fried Rice recipe...LOL.

My Arts was horrible. Barely passed, sometimes fail.

My maths was...about the same. I had to do remedial classes because of my Maths (especially Sec 2). I was getting like C5 and C6. My Algebra sucks like hell. (Can't believe I'm actually doing Programming now)

Science was alright. Learn the periodic tables, and the states of matters...and of course the Reproductive System, LOL. I don't know why we were all going "gaga" over that topic last time.

My Chinese was not bad (always been my first language). English...average B4 like that.

Second Life 1 - The Start Of Second Life

This is a prelude (a short one cause I can't remember much anyway) to the "Poly Days" story , and basically a recount of my Secondary School Life.

Been wanted to write this since completing the Poly one, but I'm too "busy"... Now I'm too free so I might as well jot this down. Truthfully speaking, I don't remember much from secondary school days, but I'll guess I can try with the help of some "relics of the past"...

I joined Yishun Secondary in Jan 1999. I still remembered that when I first know about it... I wasn't very happy. If my memory doesn't fail me, that school was the "4th Choice" I made. (My first choice was Ahmad...Haha, but that one a bit too high for my standard)

I was more expecting to get into the Riverside one, cause it's much closer to my house. The main reason I hate it was because... I'm the ONLY person from my Primary class that got into that school (Which is EXACTLY what happened in Poly. Not a single person I know from my Sec school chose the same course as I did)

Was quite "depressed" at that point... don't know why. Aiya. 13 years old only. And then you have to leave the school you've been attending for 6 years... and not a single friend is with you. Can imagine the feeling. It's like the future is total darkness. LOL.

Hmm... That's all I remember before the school bell starts ringing...

I can still recall some fragments from my first Day of Secondary School. The teacher was talking about how "some people came to the wrong school cause they confuse Yishun Ring and Yishun". And then there's two persons with exactly the same name (Matthew) in my class which caused some joke at that point of them... One is a chinese and the other is... Urm... to be respectful, Indian.

Bombarded With Games...

Last time is "no game to play". Now is "too many games to play".

Sometimes, I feel so stressed that I just don't play. LOL Cause sometimes it becomes a "chore"... well not really cause i enjoy the process, but I can't stop because I feel "obligated" to complete it.

Most recently was playing Romance Of Three Kingdoms 11. Woo. Freaking nice strategy game. And unfortunately, a very challenging one too. I took 5 weekdays and 1 weekend to complete all the 16 scenario challenges alone... Geez, and I haven't even started on a brand new game yet. I think this is one of the best iterations in the series (I've been playing since ROTK 4).

I love the challenge scenarios. There are lots of famous battles in history that you can played out, like "Lu Bu Versus 3 Brothers", "Battle of Red Cliff" etc... and there's even one "imaginary" scenario where you become the Emperor of Han and has to fight against Cao Cao, Yuan Shao, Dong Zhuo (all the rebels) to unite the entire China. That final scenario alone took me half a day.
Also loved the creativity of the developers by including famous generals that were not from that period of China. Mainly those from Chu-Han period like Xiang Yu, Liu Bang, Han Xin, Xiao He. (Love the history of that war ever since I watch the drama)

Before ROTK 11, I was playing FF12. Still playing, but haven't complete. Before that, I just completed Company of Heroes. And then I played Black and White 2 and Stronghold Legends halfway alone. No motivation to continue.

I'm still waiting for the darn Medieval 2 patch to come out to fix all the broken crap.

Civilization 4 expansion (Beyond The Sword) is finally announced. Schedule to arrive in July I think. Gonna be a blast.

And then my friends are trying to get me to play Command and Conquer 3, but I have no interested in those kind of strategy games...

And of course Warcraft III is STILL up there on my playing list. (It's the longest running game in my life...2002 to 2007) I just don't play that often now as my clan is basically dead. I wonder where the hell everyone went to. Sometimes during weekend when I'm lucky enough, We'll be able to get enough people together for an awesome inhouse.

As for the upcoming ones...I'm not really looking forward to much games in 2007. PS2 is basically out of the question (no more games coming). PC... besides Civ 4 expansion, I'm only interested in Spore.
