NAPFA Test...

7th Feb

Yep...you guessed it. NAPFA! I failed!

I can't do Standing Broad Jump...I tried and tried and got 178cm...Others did 220+ easily...Geez...are they frogs or what!

But still, I've made the committment to exercise at least 2 times a week now!

University Admission Time!

16th Feb

By now I'm very busy with handling the University Admission matters. I've submitted for NTU and preparing for NUS one I was quite pissed off the CCA records matter. Went all the way back to school, then called NUS and the guy told me that "just submit whatever you have, and submit the rest together with final results"...

Well, but I think he's quite a nice guy. (For wishing me good luck before hanging up the phone) Haha. Now, I'm worried about the results...If 1 of them get rejects, I'll take the other one...but if both accepts...I think I might breakdown. (Same if both reject. ) I've done countless research, read through the course modules, descriptions, campus information, seek advice on forums, etc. And I STILL can't decide which is the better school. Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Computing? NTU or NUS? Argh!!!

For the MOE part, I'm now on my 10th game! Yes! The 10th one! Surprisingly, now I can breeze through all the flash games in 3 days...I still remembered the first day I came. Can't even do a basic for-loop...-_-

Last Japanese Farewell...

13th Feb

Last day of Japanese...the test. Time really flies. I've been taking Japanese for 3 years, and now here I am, Year 3 exam, Final exam.

It feels like yesterday when I start the first Japanese Lesson. I still remember it very vividly. I walked in the classroom and Ehara Sensei began rattling away in Japanese (sort of greetings). I can feel almost everyone in the class feeling very confused...haha. We learnt some Japanese greetings and a portion of Hiragana. Oh yeah. Talk about that.

At that time I could barely write nor recognize them. It was really bad. I have to used all sorts of way to memorize them. Trying to form chinese/english words, viewing it as certain shapes, linking the pronounciation to certain objects...was really a hard time. Same for Katakana during year 2...memorable times.

The final exam was "Which one you prefer..."question. She asked me "Durian" or "Mango". I said, "Onaji gurai suki desu!" (Both!)

Why? "ii desu!"

She asked if I like Japanese manga or English comics, but I don't like them both. I told her I like watching television, and watched Channel 8! Why? "omoshiroii desu!"

Haha...I think it's one of the best oral exam in the 3 years. I was surprising calm this time round and it was more like a normal conversation. I will miss attending Japanese Class and Sensei!

ETD "Divisonal Meeting Cum Chinese New Year"

6th Feb

Aha! Today ETD organized a "Divisional Meeting cum Chinese New Year" lunch. Great day to get away from all the work.

Quite boring I must say...after moving through "mountaineous" regions on a shaky bus, we arrived at a very "ulu" country club...The meal was decent...We were unable to go back on our own after the meal, and they're going to have a meeting till 5. Being the outcasts that we are, we were left to explore the place on our own. (Li Xiang, Kia Hwee, Nizam, Jolene and me!)

Went to the arcade and play, generally hang around, and of course complain about works...Many of us were called up tocontinue working after our ITP ends......for $450! Are you kidding me? Hahaha! 8:30am to 6pm for a measely $450? That's less than 2 dollars an hour. I can earn more at a Mcdonald, with a much less stressful job (And doesn't require thinking)

Yes. I can understand internship getting $450. That's "allowance", not "salary". After the internship, we're "Diploma Graduates". We should get what diploma holders deserved. If I am to work for them, they should pay me as a freelancer.

Not "in comparision to what you get when you were our intern..."

Whew...I'm getting worked up here. Better take a deep breath...Oh yes! I also relive some of my childhood favourite play activity...The Swing! Wow...how long has it been since I got on that thing...Sure is fun :)

Farewell, Techwah!

24th Jan

Went back to school on 24th Jan for some lame talk on CCA…Mr Song (ICT Director) is really “gao xiao” (funny)…Memorables quotes include “Papa…Pay and Pay”! ROFL!

After the talk, Spicer gave us a lift (Ben and me) to Techwah to return the Hyper Relay Server back to Anthony…for the last time? Farewell, Edenii!

We went to Jurong Entertainment Center for Macdonald lunch afterwards. Ben suggests that we go look around on Thursday after work at an IGDA talk in Singapore. Sounds cool! Just my thing! (Looking forward to it!)

I’m overwhelmed with quite a lot of things…especially the university admission and stuffs. I gonna gather all the scholarships information and admission documents…-_-

And there’s Chinese New Year and NAPFA test coming soon!

1st KBox Experience...

22th Jan – Karaoke Session

Ben suddenly called in at like 2:30 and ask me if I’m going for K session. Well, guess what. I’m busy playing Warcraft 3. Have to “forsake” my teammates to go for this…

Luckily, my bro was about to go out and I manage to “longbang” his car. Haha. Reached there around 4. Later, Mengzhi, Toby and Sean joined in subsequently.

Conclusions: KBox sucks, for the following reasons –

- Very expensive! (Over $20! Are you kidding me?)

- The drinks are so small…but there’s 2 cups so I’ll forgive them…

- Invitation to participate in some treasure hunting game…

- The menu/control system is very lousy and the remote control interface… Enter looks like back. Song list button hard to find…”Yi Dian Ge”.

- The door placement is very distracting…

- Seat is very uncomfortable and the TV Screens is so small…

We sure can have lots of complains…

The SPINNOVEX '06

Long time since I update and a lot has happened! First was SPINNOVEX’06! Wooo~We’ve finally achieve our last and final goal of FYP, get into SPINNOVEX.

Even though it’s pretty boring, basically repeatedly explain the same gameplay and concepts to the visitors, it’s a good way to get away from work…Heh…

On Tuesday (17th Jan), Ben and me discussed about the possibility of creating a game (possibly for our portfolio usage. It wasn’t long before we arrived at a game concept we’ve jokingly came up with maybe 1 year ago! At the end of the day, we REALLY decided to develop that game!

Thursday: Me and Ben again. I played a game called “Endlos” by another group developed using Macromedia Director. They’re just to the right of the Hyper Relay booth. It’s a very impressive game although there’s some minor user interface problems (like navigating to certain locations). Some of the puzzles can really crack your brain…I also learnt something else…Here’s the gameplay: The player is supposed to navigate around, solving puzzles to collect 7 crests. But due to “time constraints”, he can find 3 of them simply by opening a box. Nice move!

We also have the “Urgent” game, a toilet stimulation where the player have to build, clean and kill the germs! Very interesting concept, although more varieties of items and decisions could bring the game to even greater heights! Overall, I think the exhibits by our ICT “all got standard one”.

During the SPINNOVEX, I also met Matthew and Yi Xian who’re exhibiting their high fibre “Currypok”…It tastes OK…Also invited them to try out Hyper Relay…A surpise was meeting Mr Lee (My secondary school form teacher). I haven’t seen him for years! Pity he wasn’t able to locate Ms Lai (Chemistry teacher). I hope we get another gathering soon as Mr Lee suggests, probably this coming May.

Overall, it’s a very successful SPINNOVEX! Cheers!

P.S: I am growing more annoyed with some people. They’re arrogant yet refused to admit it. They want to show off their accomplishments and undermine others abilities/works. Worst is when they act like they’re humble and all. These people disgust me. “Minus 30 Opinion Points” for them.
