K9 Mini-Feast Session

Whew... when was the last time (if you ever did) you slept for more than 12 hours straight? I just had mine yesterday. Haha... in fact, I just woke up...

Let me explain. Thursday night, went to the Island of Madness with "The Man". Needless to say, 15 hours of exhaustion... But throughout we did some fun things. Like playing a very very very old game that we haven't touched in like... a decade? Most people would have played or seen this before - Carrom. We even came up with a number of variations to play the game, although some were quite lame... like attempting to "roll" each coins into the pockets, and one where you had to knock down each other 'kings'.

Haha... also the first trip together with Karl and Jia Yun... Conclusion - Karl is really full of crap. He gets obsessed with colour obituaries and all sorts of weird stuffs...

After the night, went over to meet up with Kenrick, Darren and SK for buffet lunch~ I was starving~ (purposely didn't eat much breakfast)

Sheraton Hotel - "Hotel of Timeless style and grace". At least that's what it says on their website. Haha. Anyway, it's a 5 star hotel and everything from its exterior to its interior is fitting of it (Not that I've been to any of its suites before)...

Anyway, we just went to their pantry for the buffet only. Sashimi with salmons, swordfishes, tunas... Then the main course have roasted chicken, chicken mutton curry, potato, herbal soup, crunchy shrimps... of course we have deserts like Tiramisu, chocolate fudge, fruits, ice jelly, etc..

Please note here that I didn't take down the exact name. All of the food I mention above are not as "ordinary" as what I described. What I listed are more like ingredients than the actual "dish" at the end. Most are accompanied by some stylish and beautiful names and they really taste much better than what you buy at the hawker centers. Totally different grade.

Charleston came to join us (he returned from England yesterday) about 1/4 way through. Talked about lot of things over lunch... bitting puppies, old times, current times, future times (ORD!), the people we dislike (restricted content), Charleston and his tour in London (how much he spend), etc, etc...

The meal basically lasted from 1130 to 1430...

After that, Kenrick had to go. I also never do much, went to Wisma Atria to pick up a set of Stylus for my phone (yes, I lost it... haiz). Originally wanted to go watch movie one, but I was really tired, and the next showing is at 5pm. Way too late. So SK and Darren went to meet their friends

Me and Jia Yun went home...

Use the com for a while... but my brain shuts off. More than 36 hours without sleep liao... lights out and concussed... When I woke up, it's 3am already. (Shit I missed the 9pm show!) Used com again for a while before I ZZZ again, until 9am...

So basically, I justed ate one super super heavy meal yesterday. Costs me $31. (And that's thanks to Kenrick 20% discount) Overall it's still a very good deal. And the entire atmosphere and people is good. I think we should have more of these get-togethers. Just to relax and stop for moment. Nowadays, we always meet each other in camp and barely talk much.

Not you dismount then I dismount (everyone's rushing home), can't even sit down properly and have a nice TC session. SK even suggested that we should have this once a month, haha. Then try to hotel buffets from all over Singapore~

I'm sure you know what I'm referring to...

"I'm not asking you to love it, but view it as something which everyone must do. So what the hell, just get it over with. Time flies faster this way."

The Legendary Illusionist - David Copperfield

* David Copperfield vanished an airplane surrounded by a ring of spectators.

* He made the Statue of Liberty disappear before a live audience of New Yorkers and a home television audience estimated at over 50 million.

* During his eighth annual special, Copperfield walked through the Great Wall of China, as thousands of live spectators looked on.

* He levitated himself across the Grand Canyon.

* He became the first person to escape from Alcatraz. (A prison located on an island, surrounded by cold waters and strong sea currents)

* He escaped from an imploding building and survived a plunge over the precipice of Niagara Falls.

* Copperfield made a seventy-ton Orient Express train car vanish in mid-air above a circle of witnesses.

* He defied gravity, unlocking the mystery of human flight, in his milestone illusion, "Flying."

* In "Fires Of Passion," one of Copperfield's television specials, he hung ten storey high with burning ropes wearing a straight jacket above a bed of flaming spikes - the escape that not even Houdini would attempt.

* Although perhaps best known for the "grand illusion," Copperfield is also a master of pure sleight-of-hand. In "Fires of Passion," he destroyed and restored the famous Honus Wagner baseball card, worth well over a million dollars, in front of its admittedly nervous owner, hockey great Wayne Gretsky.

* The average time it takes Copperfield to create a new illusion, from conception to performance is two and a half years. "Flying" took over seven years to develop.

* He has been knighted by the French government, receiving the Chevalier of Arts and Letters and has received an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Fordham University.

* Copperfield owns the International Museum and Library of the Conjuring Arts, the world's largest repository of antiquarian books, magic, illusions, and other ephemera on magic and the allied arts.

* He has performed seven times for Presidents of the United States.

* In 1995, Copperfield was given a star and inducted into the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame.

* Copperfield has been honored with a wax likeness of him in Madame Tussaud's in London.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All the above information are extracted from David Copperfield Magical Highlights.

And yes he's coming to Singapore to perform after 6 long years! I don't want to miss this chance to see him perform live~

I've always been fascinated by magics since I was a child. (even to the point that my ambition at one time was to be a magician, haha.)

And D.C. is the most famous of them all... really surprise to see him coming to Singapore. Best of all the tickes pricing are comparable to normal concert prices (I was expecting higher)... He'll also be performing some of the most amazing (and deadly illusions) at the upcoming show...

Don't wanna miss it... but this kind of show watch alone very boring. Need a bigger group.

Been finding company, but all give me lame answers like "you treat me then I go". Neh Neh...

Relaxing week...Or is it...

This was basically a very "easy" week for me...

Support, support and more support. Thanks a lot to Ah Kam for doing the OP for me, the OP with no dismount... -_-

Some very big things happened though. Like the "Red Dragon 30 Accident", and of course the one with Ah San... Things outside just keeps going downhill...

I haven't been outside there for a long time, which is why I'm actually quite worried about the upcoming ones... I'll be doing 4 next week... -_- Hope everything goes smoothly...

My KM night also quite hip. Blesk returned in the middle of night with a bloated ear. WTF...quite stunt leh...

Retake my IPPT as well...and FINALLY passed! My running time? 12.20 seconds. Hahaha! Soooooo heng...

Friday, I'm the only support. Very relaxing lah, just help to wash and feed those siao kia. Went to Mt.Pleasant once again with Neo to bring back Blesk. Then stand in for Jansen for pretty much the rest of the day. Hee...

The best thing? I finished watching "Secret", aka "Bu Neng Shuo De Mi Mi"...Very nice show, interesting plot and presentation. It's not very original but some parts are quite sweet... just put a smile across your face. My favourite scenes include the "Piano Battle", and of course the magnificent "Building Demolished" at the end...

Weekend lo!

Setting up a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)

Been spending all my book-out time doing that these few days, cause my brother keep pestering me to. Originally wanted to wait till weekend one...

It is actually much easier than I thought, but I don't have any prior experience. First, I just realized how "old school" our modem is. It's still using USB. So we got it replaced with a Linksys model. And of course we got a Linksys router as well.

Everything was fine but the router doesn't seems to work. It keeps showing unable to connect even though the light indicate it's perfectly fine. I finally called up the Service Hotline and they assigned me an "ang moh" operator. Had a hard time making out what she was talking with that accent, and she assume I'm a total newb...

Like when she told me, "Go to device manager...", I already opened up liao... but she had to step by step... "Go to start, then settings, then control..."

Waste my time sia... but other than that she's quite helpful. When she asked me which manufacturer my computer is from, I said I "DIY myself"... she was a bit stumped and sort of didn't know how to carry on.

But at that point I finally realized the root of the problem... Indeed I look carefully and it read "Ethernet Controller" with an "!". So I climb all the way to the top of my cupboard, retrieve my ASUS Installation Disc and finally found what I was looking for. I didn't install the Ethernet Driver when I set up the computer. (because I had no use for it at that time!)

Spend some time connecting the cables and wires... the place is really a mess of wire... buay tahan. Speakers, monitors, modem, router, power supply, everything...

So I spent 1/2 hr or so unplugging, untangling and taping them neatly...

Finally managed to get the wireless connection running on the laptop...wee. Now I won't have to get super piss off when my brother interrupts me. Both of us can access the internet at the same time, which is great~

I might spend the weekend setting the encryption and stuff for the WLAN if I have the time...

Whew... I'm dumb...

LOL... I leaked out something that I didn't wanted to (Cause I didn't check before I paste)... Haha...

Very bad mistake... Geez...

I'm not very comfortable with sharing it yet because... I sometimes tend to vent my frustrations up here. Needless to say I'll scold a lot of people in the process. (like the one a few days back, which made me very angry, the L** one.)

This is a channel for me to express my emotions. To let me grumble and complain...

Yet at the same time, I don't want to offend anybody - Which is why I tend to write in quite vague terms so that only I can understand. I usually don't mention any names/events/exact time. I don't write about it in detail, just enough for me to recall the event.

I also tend to remove those "emotional" posts once I've cooled down...

Which is why...

I don't want too many people that can possibly make out who/what I'm talking about, which is why I don't want to spread it to certain groups...yet. Hope you all can understand. Now 2 people (to my knowledge) know about it already. -_-

Anyway... back to the main thing I wanted to write...

14th September, first time brought my Baba out. Haha... feels strange man. It's really hard to adapt... like a totally new procedure. I have no idea about whether he's scared, or whether he'll be excited, or how he'll react once we're there.

Luckily Ah Kam is with me~ Earlier that day, he imparted a lot of his "Master Level" skills to me... I practiced a lot and FINALLY, I made him not so "chiong"... He really stopped when I just gave a stern warning! Hee... at least now he acknowledges my presence, and I have more confidence to control him.

I really learned a lot from him. Also talk about quite a lot of things that day... From the old times, the present, the people, the environment, the future... I think I'll really miss him when he goes away...

Haha... don't think so much liao... now all I want is everyday "smooth smooth pass~"... then I very happy liao.

Super Morale Booster!

WOOOOO!

This is the first time in a LONG TIME that we had something to be joyous about...

When the news was announced, you can see the excitement, the happiness on everyone faces. I could barely controlled myself... wanted to jump and cheer at that moment.

So happy! This is like the first ray of light that shone on us ever since our world was totally enveloped by darkness... It's like rekindling a lost love, finding back something you've lost for a long time...Ha ha~

12th September, I did my first ever weekday KM! (In 8 freaking long months... amazing...) I was quite worried that I might screw up, like miss out on something. But everything turned out just fine (except when I was disturbed 4am in the morning by a bunch of stupid clubbers)

And just dropped by Causeway Point to picked up the "Qiang Qiang EP"! I wonder if the money will really go to animal charities... but that's not the main point...

Heh heh...

Oh yeah, Ah Choo actually told me he wanted to buy a PSP... Then Zar and Edwin said they both wanted to upgrade to PSP-Slim... suggestion: We all buy together. LOL... not a bad idea... but must find a day when all of us are free...

That's all for now~

Taurus 3 One Year Anniversary Gathering!

Wee... about 15 people attended - David, Xiang Jue, Wayne, Guan Wei, Frank, Ivan, Nicholas, Kim Tee, De Zhi, Cheng Jin, Shi Han...Couple of people couldn't make it at the last minute. Some were recall back, others "report sick"... LOL.

Went to this "Mirana Hotel" (SP?) place to have lunch buffet. Was kind of ex ($20) but you got to eat to your hearts content... We ordered every item on the menu in "5 packs 8 packs"... I think the manager also stun... The food is not bad, lots of Dim Sum, especially prawns, prawns and more prawns... Fried and steamed...

Talk a lot about old times loh basically. Haha... and of course how's everyone doing currently. It's like an "eye-opener", cause you get to know about like a dozen of other vocations you never knew about before. Also got some info about some of the more prominent figures in the platoon, like Chia and Kenneth Soo. Ha ha... anyway a lot of us in different places now. Some are specs, some are sirs, some on land and some on sea. Some are super slack... Some drop PES until cannot drop liao... And some... went on the "Route of no return" - Sign On.

*Oh yeah. And I finally confirmed with David about Ken. He actually told me Ken is a 酒鬼... LOL.

Most of them didn't have any plans after the lunch. So I managed to convince them to visit Suntec with me, for the Games Asia Convention. Heh... But in the end only Wayne, Xiang Jue, Guan Wei and Shi Han went to visit the exhibitions with me...

Hmm... the exhibition is like a "Mini E3" I guess. The most prominent booths includes EA, Blizzard, Sony and Nitendo. Blizzard nothing much going on except playing videos of WoW and Starcraft II, and cosplayers dressed up as elves and mages...

EA is busy promoting their latest Sims 2 expansion (Expansion no. wat liao?) Bon Vovage, and games like Simcity Socities. Nintendo got those show girls running around everywhere O_O... promoting Wii and DS, what else. Sony Playstation occupied nearly 1/5 of the floor I think. Lots of PS3 games. We actually spent most of our time there watching Ninja Gaiden.

Also going on are "DOTA" and "Counter Strike" tournaments. Of course there were also some schools like what Art Academy at the show. Nanyang Polytechnic was there as well! Went to take a look around at their Final Year Projects (I supposed)... not bad... not bad at all...

Jack came and joined us for a while... (Wah... I think I might have a chance to see him quite a lot...) before leaving. After that we went to Swensens for a little more TC session...

Actually discover that a number of my BMT mates also have the university deferment problem like me (namely Guan Wei and David). Guan Wei took a very similar path to me in fact... Haha. He applied for both NUS School of Computing and NTU Computer Science last year, but he choose NUS in the end. Yesterday, he told me he might want to jump over to NTU... LOL! If that's true we might become classmates~

1 more year lo~!

1 Year Left!

IT WAS 365 DAYS AGO...that I first stepped onto the Demonic Island.......can still remember it so vividly. (a sleepless night...)

(For Andrew, Anthony, Mao Mao, Thomas)

Even though life is difficult......I'm halfway there liao. Something to be happy about I guess, but I don't really feel the joy. Haha. They all say the 2nd year will be longer because you'll keep thinking about it...

I realized a lot of things lately...Barely 2 batches only, and we're almost reaching the top liao. I think the next batch will really determine our fate... Firstly, all the previous generations will be, BOOF, gone! Yes, I mean all. That practically means the highest in seniority will be us. Second, it is already getting very messy around here. Everyone is causing a lot of problems already. When the next batch joins in it will be even worse. 3rd... is... when the enemy attacks by Sea....

Next... want to congrats Thomas. Thank him for all his "attention" for so long. In fact, my very first duty was with him. On the last day (before he ORD), he shook my hand and said, "See you 1 year later"... Haha. Yes, he's ORDing this september. That'll probably be the last time I'll see him in some time. Haiz... Sgt Wong, Sgt Lim... all also this September. Sian... so sad...

And... very... sad. I, well... I had to give up my first dog... Don't say liao... He's been following me for, what? 7 months? Haiz... then exactly on my 1 year anniversary, he was forcefully taken away from me... don't know what to say. Why have to do this kind of stunt? Now I have to bond with a new dog all over again... Geez...

Finally, today... whew... like go back to BMT. Do training until siao... 5KM run, 3 sets of "do until cannot do" push-ups, 2 sets of 100 crunches, forward launch up the hill... Geez... I think I will wake up with pain all over tomorrow... After that I heard A-go-go kanna "devour" by that mad beast... luckily not too serious.

Well... that's basically all for now...

4 days of break!

Thursday, September 06, 2007

The 52th Week...

Ah...this is a very... very... "easy" week... Or shall I say, "boring"...

Finally got a long break from all the outings thing... and doing support for 3 straight days, before I go for my short break...

It WAS supposedly to be quite "relac" one... but a number of unhappy things happened...

Most sway when is you "Bo Dai Bo Ji" kanna some crap... your feeling is damn sian when it happened... It's like, it's not even your fault lor. You just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. And then... BAM! Kanna.

Haiz... feeling super down then. That LCB... nevermind. 我忍... A lot of screw up things lah... all because of one LCB... unable to comment more.

Anyway... the good thing is I got the phone I wanted. Nowadays, the service are so "jia lat". They're either extremely dominating and try to pressure you into buying their products, or they totally give the "bo chap" attitude. See liao also sian...

I shopped around for almost 2 hours before finding the right place. The right person, right price and right item. It's a local version (meaning it has warranty unlike the export version everywhere) for $398 and the service is good. Sometimes, I wouldn't mind even if I have to pay a bit more for good service. Why the hell should I let some fook-up people earn my money...

Other than that... everything is all cool and good... Generally quite relaxing and a nice prelude to my break~

Visit to Comex 2007...

Ahh... 1st of September... Yes yes, a good day.

It started off quite badly in the morning, and I shouted till my voice is almost hoarse. Those crazy bastards. The worst thing came when the water was suddenly cut during kennel washing. Geez... Luckily It came when we were almost done...

Anyway... went to Comex right after I'm done with everything. Edwin decided to join me cause he's interested in getting a phone as well (His phone 'reset button' fell out, LOL)... Anthony originally wanted to go one... but I think his schedule is too "xiong"... so he didn't join us in the end... As usual, the person who said he wanted to go fly me aeroplane.

Oh yea... that reminds me. Lately there's been this crazy guy from Hougang Chalet... Always message me about "Hebe", "Hebe", "Hebe". Hebe this and Hebe that...Please hor... WAKE UP YOUR IDEA! Everytime send me bo liao messages...

Anyway... back to Comex. We first went to Sim Lim Square to check out the phones. The lowest price was lower than I expected.. which pretty much complete the deal. I'll probably get it the next time I visit. After SLS... went to "4 Horses Road" to "Pai Pai"... Then have lunch at the hawker center...

Head to Suntec... super crowded. Walk around a while before Zar joined us. Edwin got a External HD and Zar's planning to get a widescreen LCD (Good decision!)... Haha. As for me... just window shopping nia lah... walk walk around. Look out for my next upgrade... it'll probably be a Speaker System or something, but I think that one still a bit far fetch...

Walk until very shagged... (2 days sleep like 4 hours...) Bid goodbyes and take MRT Home...

Fall asleep on the train and overshot by 1 station... -_-
