21 The movie (2008)
This movie caught my attention quite some time back (at the beginning of the semester) when we were doing something called the "Monty Hall" paradox in the Maths class. (Which made an appearance in this movie)
I didn't had the chance to watch it till a few day ago. And man, this is an awesome movie~
Then again, how much you'll like this film will probably depends on how interested you are in Blackjack/Gambling, haha~
For me, I enjoyed it a lot.
The Plot: A group of genius students developed a way to "beat the Blackjack system" using a method known as "counting cards". Initially, the main character only wanted to earn enough to pay his school fees, but alas! Greed is evil and he got carried away...
The sad part came when he lost everything overnight. He was so obsessed with his new "career" that he gave up his studies, lost his friends, etc... He was betrayed by someone (twist) and he was powerless to do anything against the him without any evidence... He made one final offer which led to the finale of the movie.
In spite of several twists, I think the best part of this movie is the ending. I think it has got 1 of the best ending I've seen in a while. It's like seeing the whole film comes 1 full circle. It's a happy ending, but not in a way I expected.
Now I'm really tempted to learn card counting... Haha. They are quite a number of youtube videos on it, some even by the MIT lecturers themselves... hmm... maybe it's time to start preparing for the opening of the "Integrated Resort"... Heh...
Rating: 3.5/5
(Blackjack rules, and this movie make it rules even more~)

Tropic Thunder
Caught this at the cinemas a few weeks back...
This movie is really "shocking". They tried to make it "hilariously-gory" by making scenes such as blood "spurting" out of heads like a fountain, people head being blown off and guys leakingthe blood...
Kind of like...erm...Happy Tree Friends?
I don't find it funny at all really. And I really don't get most of those "dialogue jokes". Maybe cause I don't watch a lot of other movies, but maybe my English is cannot make it.
The best part I think was when Ben (the main character) told Jack, "I have affinity with them. He is my son." (something like that) and he ran back to the village.
Then the next moment showed him running back, the kid clinging onto him, stabbing him with a knife. That part IS REALLY hilarious.
Anyway...
For me, this movie was good at the start for about 30 minutes (Until their first attack in the jungle). Then it gets really boring and doesn't really pick up again until the very end.
Rating: 2.5/5
(A movie about a fake movie. Duh!)
...
And it's horrible.
Plot: The main character is a person that doesn't believe in God/Satan. Her job is to solve all the supernatural cases using scientific explanations. And so, she's led to this village where crazy things happen. Everyone in the village wants to kill a girl because they believe that she's the devil. The girl brings about the 10 plagues to the entire village, and only the main character can kill her.
...
It's supposed to be horror, but it isn't even scary.
And there's a BIG TWIST.
Guess what?
It turns out that even though the girl is the one that's bringing destruction and doom to the village, she's actually the GOOD person. She is actually the Angel sent down by the gods.
Instead, the ENTIRE village are the bad guys. The villagers tried to trick the main character into killing the girl because they (being the devils) can't kill an angel.
...
...
WTF?
...
Yeah that was like the best plot twist ever.
A movie where an Angel brings destruction to an entire village of evil people.
...
...
This movie sucks.
Rating: 1.5/5
(Find me a movie with a bigger twist than this: The only evil villian in the whole film turns out to be good, and the entire good population turned out to be the evil ones.)
