WSOP 2012 - The Big One
The biggest game in the history of WSOP with a buy in of ONE FREAKING MILLION.
As
you learn more about this game, you'll actually start to appreciate
watching shows where they don't actually show the hole cards.
This removes the "result-oriented" kind of thinking that occur because you already know their cards.
Watching top players play without knowing their hole cards first would improve your own play tremendously.

Poker is much more than random bluffing and gut feelings.
It's about probabilities and odds, EV and ROI, patterns and tendencies.
And in a live game - tells and psychology.

Even live shows have been influenced so much by online games, they're actually now showing some basic stats on players. (the patterns and tendencies)

Invincible Taker
Undertaker's match with Edge is the transition from "Undertaker is undefeated at WrestleMania" to "Undertaker cannot be defeated at WrestleMania." The end of the match is what crystallized the Undertaker's deific status at the Grandest Stage of them All: immediately recovering from two consecutive Spears in order to apply Hell's Gate and win the match.
Undertaker's toughness has only increased since then. WrestleMania 25: survives a brutal over-the-top rope dive botch which could have easily broken his neck, manages to keep up with Mr. WrestleMania for a solid half-hour of wrestling, and withstands Sweet Chin Music twice. WrestleMania 26: competes against an even more formidable HBK, the latter obsessed with ending the streak; withstands a moonsault through the table and is also given Sweet Chin Music three times but still won't stay down.
Then, of course, there is WrestleMania 27: competes against a terrifyingly focused incarnation of Triple H, who for all intents and purposes was the embodiment of war in this match; Undertaker withstands a spinebuster, another spinebuster through a table, getting speared/tackled through a glass structure (the Cole Mine), nine chair shots to the spine, a chair shot to the skull, a DDT onto the chair, three Pedigrees, and a Tombstone Piledriver, plus the following night on Raw Triple H said that he was hitting Undertaker "harder than I've ever hit anyone in my entire life," which means we are supposed to understand that even the punches in this match were the most powerful punches HHH has ever thrown. The fact that Undertaker withstood all of this is flabbergasting, even in kayfabe.

Typical Idol Drama Storylines

The Codes
This is an amusing "mathematical documentary series".
Yes. I am actually watching something related to maths.
That should prove how interesting this is.
Seriously, I think schools should show such documentary to ALL the secondary school kids. I never knew/care what 'Pi' was. I never questioned why bubbles are spherical. I never knew so much could be explained by mathematics - Not only our behavior, but also the nature, the world, and the universe.
I wished there were these videos back then - It would definitely have foster a little more interest in Mathematics inside of me.
Below are some short clips from the documentary:

Apple Of My Eye
「If you risk nothing, then you risk anything.」

Sweet Potato...
Don't think I've ever been more "emotionally invested" in a TV Show then this...
This is the first Korean TV show I've seen.
This is the best "idol drama" I've seen...
For the past year, this show has never failed to put a smile on my face.
I look forward to the short 20 minutes of time every weekend.
To me, this show is more than just entertainment; it's an inspiration.
And after I've grown so attached to them, they have to take them away.
Now, my weekends will never be the same again.

I cried in my heart as I watched the last episode.

Mahjong Show
This is a really nice show for Mahjong lovers.
I especially like the last segment where each player have to guess what tiles the opponents are waiting for.
Xu Nai Lin really shows his "gosu-ness" here. He wins like 80% of the time, even during times when he's extremely unlucky in hitting on opponent tiles, and "supposedly" gets VERY LITTLE info.
He will still manage to outwit the other guy most of the time.
It's really fun to join in and try to guess the tiles.
Highly recommended.

Exam (2010)
No point recommending those blockbusters everyone already knows.
So for now I'll try to recommend some of those "lesser-known" movies (not shown in local cinemas) if I happen to come across one.
This is a psychological thriller film... shall not spoil it for you too much.
Basically, eight talented candidates have reached the final stage of selection to join the ranks of a mysterious and powerful corporation.
Entering a windowless room, the invilgilator gives them 80 minutes to answer one simple question. He outlines three rules they must obey or be disqualified:
1)Don't talk to him or the armed guard by the door,
2)Don't spoil their papers,
3)Don't leave the room.
He starts the clock and leaves. The candidates turn over their question papers, only to find they're completely blank.
Got you interested?
Haha.
The movie is REALLY good at the start. You'll definitely like it if you like stuff like Deathnote and Liar's Game.
It kind of go downhill after the first 30 minutes though, as they shifted to focus more on the interaction between the characters.
It got better towards the end, and as for the ending where they reveal the "answer" to the "question"... well, it's is really up to individual preference.. Some will like it and some will hate it. Haha.
Clue: It is something planted very early and very subtly in the movie. Haha.
Overall, nice way to spend 90 minutes.

Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, Blah Blah Blah
Just finished one of favourite series and I am seriously disappointed.
What a waste of my time.
Really don't understand why authors/writers have to ruin something that was so darn good.
Look at all those movies "trilogies". Look at all those drama with multiple seasons (some even 7 or more which is ridiculous IMO)
80% of the time, it's always the first movie or season that's regarded as the best. After that, it just goes downhill.
That's exactly what's happening here.
You've built up something from scratch with awesome plot and characters, everything is just fantastic. Great plot, great fighting scenes, great villians, great heroes. Lot of twists and spectacular moments. It already got the perfect ending, everything is resolved. Characters live happily ever and peace reigns over the lands.
So, why not just end it there?
For goodness sake; start a new series.
Why do they "die die" want to continue something that's already "completed"?
It makes me damn piss off to see some of my favourite series reduced to a pile of junk; With ridiculous, luckluster plot + some of the most cliche and dumbest new characters ever.
Sometimes you just refused to acknowledge their presence. You refused to believe such BAD SEQUELS actually exists.
Let me cite this example from 1 particular martial art series.
In season 1, there's this 2 legendary characters regarded as godly throughout the entire story. They are regarded from the start till the end as the most powerful 2 persons in the entire "world". Unmatched & unequalled. At the end, these 2 greatest force of good and evil had a great battle and ended their dispute.
...
Then in season 2, these 2 supposedly "invincible" characters got THRASHED like flies.
Suddenly, you've got "mysterious guy from the mountain", "abbot from some faraway temple", "100 year old guy breaking out of his tomb" etc etc... all appearing from out of nowhere that is much more powerful.
WTF. It not only makes no sense, it makes Season 1 look ridiculous. It just overthrow any form of logic + sense of relative strength in the story's world.
And it's not over. The characters got more and more powerful. From a "wuxia" series that should be limited to swordplay and internal energy, it got more and more "extraordinary".
It seem like the authors started having problems coming up with "powerful enough villians" for the protangonisst who are already so strong.
Therefore, randomly immensely powerful villians start appearing (with no mention whatsoever beforehand that such person exists) out of nowhere.
And the villians got more and more powerful.
Soon, they are able to use elemental powers like fire and lightning.
Then, blows and exchanges between pugilists can generate force and wreck enough havoc to tear apart mountains.
And no, it doesn't stop there.
The villians are now able to summon typhoons and lightnings.
They are able to "teleport", create halluncinations or even "real space under their control".
They can also revive the death, communicate with someone from the nether world and "see the future".
It's grown from some Martial Art series to Dragonball to some futuristic genre set in ancient world with characters becoming so powerful that they become "demigods".
...
It is so absurd.
It is just so lame.
So frigging lame.
What a waste of my time.

Unify The World

Being Human
I realized I haven't watch a Comedy in ages.
Yeah, and this was a good chance to laugh my head off.
And what's better than a new Jack Neo movie.

The storyline is mediocore, cliche and reused dunno how many upteen number of times in previous Jack Neo movies ("Tu Ran Fa Cai" comes to mind). There no big budget or superstars either.
But who cares.
It is still darn hilarious and I really had a good laugh. A much needed good laugh.
A lot of awesome humor, off the top of my head:
- "Sorry Sorry" dance,
- "DA DA VIN XIAO VOO" (Resued the "Flower Powder" idea from Money No Enough 2)
- Singing segment between Mark Lee and NoNo. I couldn't stop laughing throughout the entire thing.
Another part was near the "First Ending" of the story. I already know it's not gonna end there, but the way they present it really caught me off guard.
They kind of overdid it though. Ending at the "Second Ending" would have been great, but they have to extend it to the "Third Ending". Way too overkill.
Really nice movie overall, and the cinema was filled with laughter.
Might be Jack Neo's last.
LOL.
Go watch it!!!

GI Joe : Rise Of Cobra
Watched this with some quite "unlikely group of people" yesterday night... Haha.
Anyway... this movie...
I am totally not a "action-movie" person, especially if the setting involves guns, lasers, futuristic spaceships and stuffs.
Still... I must say this movie is not bad.
Fair share of plot twists and plenty of CGI effects... my favourite part being the destruction of the Eiffel Tower.
The way they keep using flashback to shine in more on each character past is also kind of refreshing.
That's about all I can say. They didn't resolve everything at the end (in fact, the bad guys kind of won) so maybe there'll be a sequel to this movie.
Note: Low rating is due to my personal dislike of futuristic action films. It probably deserves higher for those who don't have condemn this genre.
Rating: 2.5 / 5
(Add 1 to the rating if you like spaceships, fighter jets, high tech armors and laser guns)

Ultimate Survivor Kaiji
This is an anime that I came across just a few day ago, mostly because the author is the creator of 1 of my favourite anime (Akagi). Was just feeling bored and 'google' a bit about him until I come across this work of his...
Woo~ And I think I've struck gold!
This anime is, according to Wiki, considered his most famous work. (Longest too with 4 seasons)
This is a MUST WATCH!!!
The genre of the anime is classified as "Gambling", but I certainly don't think that's all to it. It is just a form of way to present the story, even though the gambling parts themselves are very interesting.
This show is very similar to "Death Note", totally has that feel. It's about deception, trickery, conning, strategy, survival, betrayal... Etc...
When I started watching it, I thought this show is "Everything Death Note and more".
When I reached Episode 9... ... that's the point when I felt this show has surpass Death Note. I don't think I've been this worked up over a drama before.
When I saw Death Note, I applauded the brilliance of the characters, I stand in awed at the plot and intellectual battles, etc...
But this anime, in addition to that, it went to an even deeper level; it makes my blood boil and it makes me feel like strangling the life out of the villians. It really made me feel the position of the main character.
I think perhaps in Death Note, the characters are too "godlike". Like Yagami... trying to "revolutionize the world", "create the perfect world"... etc... They're too far away.
In this show, the characters are people we can relate to (commoners). The "strategy" is not extremely far-fetch or "epic". A lot of it is just very simple mechanics/logic, executed in a superb way. That's the best way I can put it.
...
This anime has a very dark feel to it. It is a lot about how "inhuman" humans are. It'll show you the ugliest side of human nature... how people can go all out to kill each other in order to survive... How people make use of the trustful, how people can turn on each other, etc...
Anyway, give it a chance and watch just for 20 minutes (Till the first part of episode 2). I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
You'll be so hooked that you won't be able to stop watching!
Woo~ And I think I've struck gold!
This anime is, according to Wiki, considered his most famous work. (Longest too with 4 seasons)

I can summarize the whole plot, the intellectual battles, the characters using the following...
