Do you believe that sometimes, 2 persons can never become true friends? What I am trying to say here is 2 persons from 2 conflicting backgrounds, or their stance/position is just directly against each other. (Either single or both sided)
One more thing which makes a big difference is the order of whether they know each other before they are separated into this "conflicting factions" thing.
Sounds complicated, I know... so let me state an example. One that is more obvious - the classic Police and Thief.
Obviously, they can never truly become friends. A police will definitely not befriend a thief. But, if let's say the 2 persons know each other and are good buddy buddy for very long already, until one turn into a thief and the other into a police. It'll be an entirely different situation...
Anyway, the above example is too extreme. A more possible case would be like a employer and his workers, a superior and his subordinates...
No matter how "friend friend" they become, they will never become true friends. That means they'll hide some matters from each other, or they'll only put in effort if it doesn't threaten their own interests. It is sort of a bit unavoidable, because they are in conflicting positions. A benefit to one side would be a hindrance to the other side. (E.G: Increase pay for workers -> loss for the employer)
That is my opinion for certain cases (not the above one actually, but it's one example I can think of). And that's my opinion for now at least.
I really don't like to think it this way but so far, this is what I have experience so far. It is unavoidable... I call this kind of a friend, a "Conflicting Friend". Be careful of what secrets you share with him... It might come back to haunt you one day.
The only time you should share them, is when you 2 are no longer in conflicting positions. (You or him quit the company or something)
But there's one twist to this: If you 2 are already friends before you become get into conflicting positions, then the end results will be very different from this.
